George Horan

George Horan came to Dubai from Ireland 32 years ago as part of the Aer Rianta consultancy team that set up Dubai Duty Free in 1983. At the end of his consultancy contract, he was asked to join Dubai Duty Free's management team, headed up by Colm McLoughlin, formerly Dubai Duty Free's Managing Director and its present Executive Vice Chairman as of July 2011. 

 

After several years in shop floor management, George Horan was appointed General Manager of the operation and later promoted to Deputy Managing Director in 2003.

 

In July 2011, George Horan was named President, with responsibility for the day-to-day running of the operation.

 

Amongst the major projects undertaken, George has overseen the design, construction and opening of the Dubai Duty Free operations in Terminal 1 in 2000, Emirates Terminal 3 (Concourse B ) in 2008 and Concourse A in January 2013. 

 

He has also overseen the development of the retail offer of Dubai Duty Free at Al Maktoum International Airport and the retail offer in Concourse D which opened in February 2016.
