Founded in 2012, the J9SOX Challenge welcomes golf lovers around the region to participate in an annual golf day to raise awareness and funds for the J9 Foundation, a charity to support sufferers of Motor Neuron Disease.

Diagnosed with the disease in 2011, South African rugby legend Joost van der Westhuizen formed the J9 Foundation in aid of those suffering with MND. With the help of donations, we are able to aid the victims of this fatal illness with medical and emotional support.

This is where the J9SOX challenge comes in. Our philosophy is –

“Sometimes in life, you do not always have a choice.”

To this end, J9SOX participants are not given a choice in their golf strip, choice of team or transport around the course!

They must wear the outrageously coloured socks provided whilst walking the 9 hole, course. Split into two teams in a Ryder Cup format event: Team Joost vs. Team xxx (Well-known captain of industry to be decided) the golf is then followed by a BBQ, fun activities and Raffle after the competition to celebrate the winning team.

Proceeds go to the J9 Foundation and the Al Jalila Foundation.
